July & August 2015 - London, Amsterdam & Boston
Day 3 - July 30th - London
I awoke at 6am but everyone one else was still sound asleep. So I decided to go on one of the Rick Steves’ walking tours I had downloaded to my phone. So I took the tube to the Temple station and began the “City” tour.
Royal Courts of Justice
Dragon Boundary (marks the "City")
Temple Church
St. Brides Church
Saint Dunstan in the West Church
Saint Paul's Cathedral
Paternoster Square with relocated Temple Bar Monument
Royal Exchange at Bank Juction
The Monument (To the great fire)
I climbed the 311 steps to the top.

The podcast was a really good fit for me. Got a guided tour with fair bit of detail and history, but was still able to move at my own pace.
I returned to the apartment about 10am and the family is just starting to stir for the day. About an hour later we all headed for the Tower. It was very crowded but we had pre-purchased admission which helped somewhat.

After a couple hours everyone has had enough of fighting the crowds. The girls head off shopping; and Debbie and I decide to find a pub and get some lunch.
Our hosts had recommended the Camel near our apartment - so we decide to give that a shot. I ordered a pint of a local IPA then checked out their menu, I was a bit concerned as all they had was meat pies - which are one of the few things I do not eat. But what the hell – I ordered a beef pie – and it was delicious.
After a fine meal and a couple rounds we headed back to the apartment. Debbie and I got some groceries from a local market then spent the remainder of the evening relaxing in the apartment. Eventually the girls returned from some massive mall they had discovered.
