I went to Hickory to see the Collings Foundation "Wings of Freedom' road show. They fly in a B-17, B-24 and a two seat P-51. For a few hundred dollars you can fly in a B-17 or B-24 (a couple grand will get you a ride in the back seat of the P-51). Alternatively a small donation you get an interior look at the old bombers. Unfortunately my budget did not allow for any flying. But I did get to poke around the old planes to my hearts content. I would truly love to ride in that P-51 some day.

Bombadier's Postion - While I was at the airfield, an elderly gentleman was helped into the plane and crawled to this spot, then sat for the longest time; turns out he had flown 35 missions over Germany in that postion. He had my sincere thanks.

Belly Turret - It took a very brave, and very small man to fold into that.

Don't believe this plane had anything to do with the museum. just sharing the same ramp, regardless sure was a beauty.
