August & September 2012 - Germany & Netherlands
Frankfurt
Landed at Frankfurt International Airport.
After a short train ride I arrived at Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof (main train station)
Then a short walk to my new home. It had the main virtues I look for when traveling - cheap and centrally located, luckely it also had added benefit of being exceedingly clean
Typical street scenes
Opera House.
St. Catherine's Church.
Eschenheim Tower.
St. Peter's Cemetery.
And again
The Dom (cathedral). As as I typically do when given a chance - I climbed to the top.
View of Frankfort from the top of the Dom.
And another.
Old Nikolai Church in the Römerberg (Main Square).
More Römerberg.

Took a day trip to the beautiful city of Heidelberg. I was about an hour away by train.

At Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof about to board a train to Amsterdam .
Amsterdam
For some reason which remains a mystery to me I have always felt very at home in Amsterdam, as if it is where I belong. Many visits later it is still far and away my favorite place.
Very typical Amsterdam scenes.
Having a beer at De Stoof cafe.
Sign intrigued me but I did not go in
Amsterdam zoo.
Also at the zoo.

This is the view from Cafe de Sleyswacht - one of my favorite places to enjoy a beer and watch the world go by.
